The way my hand rests on your stomach when we lay next to each other.
Trying to match my breathing with yours as your chest rises up and down in rhythmic pattern
Combing my fingers through your hair and running the back of your neck with my nails as you breathe hot, steady air into my neck
Nuzzling my nose into your collar bone because there is no better fit in this world than the valleys of your neck and the light, musky fragrance of your wash
Tangling my legs with yours because I’m always ice cold and your body’s inviting warmth always set an equal balance
Slowly fluttering my eyelashes on your neck as I listen to your light snore - loud enough to pay attention to, quiet enough to fall asleep to.
Moving the slightest inch, and waiting for your arms to rise, fall, and pull me in tighter.
Maybe you don’t realize it, and even if it is in the middle of your deepest slumber, you need me too.
please, please.. don’t say it’s over.
